Empowering Incarcerated Individuals: Project Milaap’s Journey.

Let's see how The India Vision Foundation starts bridging the gap

At the start of the ongoing pandemic (COVID-19), while the world grappled with unprecedented challenges, a segment of society faced even greater hardships – the prison inmates.

Confined within the four walls of the prison, they not only battled financial constraints but also endured the emotional toll of separation from their loved ones. With visitations prohibited and communication limited, many found themselves slipping into stress and depression.

Recognizing the urgent need to support these individuals, India Vision Foundation launched Project Milaaps – a beacon of hope for inmates in prisons across Faridabad, Gurgaon, and the NCR region.

Let’s delve into the journey of Project Milaaps and the profound impact it has had on the lives of incarcerated individuals.

Understanding the Need

The pandemic exacerbated the financial struggles of inmates, restricting their ability to communicate with their families through phone calls.

For many, the inability to stay connected with their loved ones and legal counsel only deepened their sense of isolation and despair.

Empowering Inmates: Project Milaaps Unveiled

Project Milaaps emerged as a lifeline for these individuals, offering both financial assistance and mental health support. The initiative aimed to alleviate the financial burden hindering inmates’ access to communication facilities, thus bridging the gap between them and their families.

Financial Assistance for Communication

The heart of Project Milaap is in its commitment to providing inmates with the means to stay connected. India Vision Foundation identified inmates facing financial constraints and took proactive steps to deposit twenty rupees monthly into their bank accounts. This modest yet significant gesture empowered inmates to make vital phone calls to their families and legal representatives.

Continuing the Journey

As Project Milaap continues to empower incarcerated individuals, India Vision Foundation remains steadfast in its commitment to bridging the gap between inmates and their families.

With 186 beneficiaries already provided with the means to communicate, the Foundation seeks to expand its reach and support more individuals during these challenging times.
